Alessandro la Motta

Alessandro la Motta was born in Rimini (IT) in 1966, where he lives and works. He graduated from the Art School of Rimini, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. During the years of formation there are the first collective exhibitions and the awards to the Prize Morandi and Premio Zucchelli (1985/1986/1988).

In the 2000s he began to work on the dynamics of the face and the figure as a body of painting, within an idea of presence-absence that will characterize the work over the years to follow. In 2003 he exhibited with recent works at the European Parliament in Brussels; 2004 is crowned with trips to Africa (already started from the previous two years), where he participates in workshop with artists of various nationalities and participation with Z'Arts at the Dakar Biennale in Senegal.

In September 2010 he exhibited with the solo exhibition Green Italy as part of the demonstrations for the Shanghai Universal Expo, at Tongij University, where one of his work has entered the permanent collection. 2011 sees the participation in the 54th Venice Biennale for the Italian Pavilion in the section Emilia Romagna at Palazzo Pigorini in Parma, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, he participates in the tricolori exhibition, at the Palazzo del Podestà of Rimini, Italy.
