He began to paint around the age of twenty and in 1959 he took part in the Larderello prize. After graduating from the artistic high school of Carrara, he enrolled in the faculty of architecture in Florence, abandoning his studies after the two years to devote himself exclusively to painting.
In 1960, thanks to the painter Sandro Luporini, exponent of the artistic current defined Existential Realism, he attended the studios of painters in Milan such as Giuseppe Banchieri, Giulio Scapaticci, Adolfo Borgognoni, Gianfranco Ferroni, Giovanni Cappelli, Giuseppe Martinelli, Sergio Saroni (in Turin), Giuseppe Guerreschi, Bepi Romagnoni as well as that of Sandro Luporini. He also attends the studios of Uliano Martini and Renzo Bussotti both in Pisa and Padua.
In 1960 he participated in the First Art Exhibition of Italian students organized by the weekly VITA, winning the first prize and in 1967, together with the painters Sandro Martini and Luigi Piciotti, he held his first exhibition in Milan at the Il Milione gallery.
At the end of the 70s he participated in the foundation of the La Metacosa group together with the painters Gianfranco Ferroni, Sandro Luporini, Lino Mannocci, Giorgio Tonelli, Bernardino Luino, Giuseppe Biagi.
He was mentioned by Franco Russoli (then director of the Pinacoteca di Brera) in the Bolaffi Contemporary Art catalog of 1968 and 1972.
He was presented by the writer Antonio Moresco at the "54th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, Italy Pavilion" with the VW Beetle oil painting. He has exhibited his works in many personal and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. He has received many awards and recognitions from art critics, journalists and writers (among others Philippe Daverio, Antonio Moresco, Marcello Venturoli, Camillo Langone, Marco Goldin, Emilio Tolaini, Franco Marcoaldi, Vittorio Sgarbi, Carla Benedetti, Franco Russoli).
His oil paintings can be found in the private collections of Marta Marzotto and Anna Magnani, and in the public collections of the province of Pisa (Macelleria, 1960), of the Chamber of Commerce of Pisa, of the Cassa di Risparmio di Pisa Foundation. Blu (Botanical Garden and bell tower and Botanical Garden), of the Banca Popolare di Pisa and Pontedera (Botanical Garden and Pisa and Botanical Garden and Baptistery).
In the 70s of the last century he collaborated with the Della Bezuga gallery in Florence and throughout the 80s he was one of the painters of the Forni gallery in Bologna.
He has lived and worked in Pisa since 1964.
